When should an athlete replace his training shoes?
The coaches recommend beginning each track and cross-country season with a dependable pair of training shoes.
Most running shoes last approximately 300–500 miles. Our athletes generally run 20–40 miles per week, so a runner can accumulate considerable mileage during a season and offseason training.
Shoes may need to be replaced sooner if the cushioning feels flat, the tread is badly worn, or the athlete begins experiencing unusual soreness.
