Is summer practice required?

Summer practice is optional but highly encouraged. It gives athletes an opportunity to build fitness gradually, establish consistent habits, and develop relationships with their teammates before the competitive season begins.

Athletes who cannot attend should continue running consistently on their own. Beginning the season in reasonable condition makes practices more manageable, reduces the shock of increased training, and generally makes the season more enjoyable.

Summer training is not about reaching peak fitness early. It creates the foundation needed to improve throughout the season.
