What should an athlete do when something hurts?
Tell a coach as soon as possible. Do not wait until a minor problem becomes chronic or begins affecting how you run.
Not every ache is an injury, but communicating early gives us more options. We may reduce your running, modify a workout, or substitute biking, swimming, or another form of cross-training.
All athletes have access to our Mobility Library through Final Surge and the daily workout email. It includes movements for different areas of the body. Athletes should identify the exercises most helpful for their current needs and perform them consistently to help manage ordinary aches, maintain mobility, and support recovery.
Mobility work should not be used to hide or run through an injury. Athletes should involve their parents and an appropriate medical professional when pain persists, worsens, changes their stride, or affects normal daily activities.
